Welcome to Candio. By accessing or using our application, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Candio.

Description of Service

Candio is an AI-powered editorial tool that provides manuscript critique, structured feedback, and personalized mastery roadmaps for writers. The service includes manuscript storage, AI-generated analysis, and a persuasion writing challenge feature.

Account Registration

You must create an account to use Candio. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep it current.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

Your Content

Ownership. You retain full ownership of any manuscripts, essays, or text you submit to Candio. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your original writing.

License to process. By submitting content, you grant Candio a limited, non-exclusive license to process your text solely for the purpose of providing the service — including generating AI feedback, storing manuscripts, and delivering learning paths.

No training. Your submissions are not used to train AI models. They are processed in real time to generate your feedback and discarded after processing.

AI-Generated Content

Candio uses artificial intelligence to generate feedback, critiques, and learning paths. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or subjective assessments that do not reflect professional editorial judgment
• Feedback and learning paths are suggestions, not guarantees of improved writing or any specific outcome
• You should use AI-generated content as a starting point, not as a substitute for professional editing or education
• Candio does not verify the factual accuracy of AI-generated content

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other accounts, or connected systems
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the service, except through the published API
• Submit content that is harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
• Resell, sublicense, or distribute the service or its features without written permission

Rate Limits and Usage

Candio enforces rate limits on API endpoints to ensure fair use and service stability. Excessive or abusive usage may result in temporary or permanent restriction of your access. Specific rate limits are not published and may be adjusted at our discretion.

Service Availability

We strive to keep Candio available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may temporarily suspend or restrict access for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any downtime or data loss resulting from such interruptions.

Third-Party Services

Candio integrates with third-party services (Clerk, NVIDIA NIM, Supabase, Vercel) to provide functionality. Your use of these integrations is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions, content, or policies of third-party services.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the application. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these terms or is harmful to other users or the service.

Upon termination, your right to use Candio ceases immediately. We will make your data available for export for a reasonable period following termination, after which it may be deleted.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Candio and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use of or inability to use the service
• Any content or conduct of any third party on the service
• AI-generated content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or harmful
• Unauthorized access to your account or data

Disclaimer of Warranties

Candio is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content obtained through the service will be accurate or reliable.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Candio and its operators harmless from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of Candio after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Candio operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the service shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
